George F. Briscoe, 75, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Nov. 14, 2013.
He was born May 14, 1938, in Haverhill, Mass., to Charlotte (nee Bradley) and Charles Briscoe.
Many people knew George as “Tomato George” at the Venice Farmers market, where he sold produce since 1997, when the market began. Before working at the Farmers Market, George was a captain of the South Venice Ferry. George and Judy moved to Englewood in 1989, after raising their three children in Livermore, Calif.
Survivors include his beloved wife, of 55 years, Judith; daughters, Beth Suchon, Susan Wade and Laura Briscoe; grandchildren, Joey Briscoe, Jenny Wendell, Kyle Suchon, Jessica Morgan and Katie Von Berg; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Charles.
