Cathy J. (nee Brauer) Devaney, 65, of the Lemon Bay Isles Community in Englewood, Fla., and Toms River, N.J., went to be with her Savior, Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, with her family by her bedside.

She was born in Rahway, N.J., and lived in Keyport, N.J., Matawan, N.J., Eatontown, N.J., Manchester, N.J., Forked River, N.J., and Toms River, before moving to Englewood eight years ago.

Mrs. Devaney was employed as a medical receptionist for many years, working for Dr. Jeffrey Cryan of Toms River. She married Samuel “Sam” on Sept. 30, 1967. Mr. and Mrs. Devaney were active members of Forked River Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon, and Sam as an Elder.

Cathy is survived by her devoted husband, Sam; her children, Kevin (Carolyn) and Jennifer (Noel) Santos, all of Toms River; grandchildren, Chelsea, Daniel and Matthew Santos, and Emily and Abigail Devaney, all of Toms River; her mother, Anna Longstreet of Toms River; brothers, Frederick (Beverly) of Venice, Fla., and Glenn (Meredith) of East Windsor, N.J.; sisters, Carol (Robert) Gray of New Port Richey, Fla., Lillian (Bill) Lawton of Hazlet, N.J., and Gail (Robert ) Jablonski of Forked River; her sister-in-law and caretaker, Phyllis Devaney Balog of Toms River; brother-in-law, Paul (Cindy) Devaney of Forked River; and many nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at Riggs Funeral Home, 130 N. Route 9, Forked River. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at Forked River Presbyterian Church, 131 N. Route 9, Forked River. Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to the American Cancer Society, 2310 Route 34, Suite D, Manasquan, NJ 08736, in Cathy’s memory.
