Bruce Edward Ward, 67, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013.
He was born July 4, 1946, in Wilton, Conn., to Augusta (nee Gussy) and Bruce Ward.
Bruce graduated in 1965, from Staples High School in Westport, Conn., where he lived until he relocated to Florida in 1988. He was an excellent electrician and worked for many people over the years who appreciated his expertise. In his younger years, Bruce was a member of the Downshifters Car Club where he fulfilled his passion for building and racing cars. Bruce had a great love for animals of all kinds. This was passed on to him by his mother, who often brought home strays and injured wildlife in need of rehab, as did he. His greatest passion of all was fishing. Whether it was at a small stream in Connecticut, or a pier in Florida, that is where he found his peace. Bruce was surrounded by wonderful friends and always made new friends everywhere he went.
He is survived by his children, Christopher Ward of Chicago, Ill., and Dayna Allen of Newtown, Conn.; his two granddaughters; and his sister, Rosemary Blogoslawski of Milford, Conn. Bruce is also survived by his dear friend, Jane Post, her children, and grandchildren.
A memorial service for Bruce will be held at 4 p.m., Friday Dec. 13, 2013, at Lemon Bay Funeral Home in Englewood, Fla. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bruce’s name to Greyhound Rescue & Adoptions of Tampa Bay, Inc. P.O. Box 152407, Tampa, FL.
