Nancy Allen Brewer, 74, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at Tidewell Hospice in Venice, Fla.
She was born Nov. 1, 1939, in Manhattan, N.Y., to John and Mary (nee Gardner) Allen.
Nancy moved to Florida 25 years ago from Marysville, Ohio, after retiring from the Public School System as an Elementary Teacher. Mrs. Brewer was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Grove City, Fla., and a member of Order of Eastern Star and Neighbors Helping Neighbors. Her hobbies included collecting dolls, crossword puzzles and traveling.
She is survived by her two sisters, Catherine McCarthy of Beacon, N.Y., and Mary McHugh of Gordonsville, Va.; three stepchildren, Kirk Brewer of Seattle, Wash., Diane Brewer of Georgia, and Glenn Brewer of Chicago, Ill.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 11 nieces and nephews; and 38 grandnieces and grandnephews. Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold E. Brewer, on April 30, 2005.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at Englewood Community Funeral Home, 3070 S. McCall Road, Englewood. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish.
