Mary P. Benza, 95, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Friday, Dec. 20, 2013.
She was born July 20, 1918 in Englewood, N.J.
Mary moved to Florida from Long Island, N.Y., in the 1970s. She lived 25 years on Marco Island, Fla., and 12 years in Englewood.
Mary was very active in the San Marco Church on Marco Island and St. Rafael’s Church in Englewood. She attended daily mass at St. Rafael’s for many years, was a Eucharistic Minister, a Respite Care worker and belonged to the CCW and participated in many of their activities.
Mary will be greatly missed by her family, sister, Helen (Michael) Izzo of New Jersey; two children, Mary (August) Nordone of Syracuse, N.Y., and Philip (Patricia) Benza of Riverview, Fla.; five grandchildren, Julie (Chris) Quesada, Scott (Sarah) Benza, Joanna (Jason) Alves, Christine (Jeremy) Crouse and Joseph Nordone; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank C. Benza; her sister, Lisa Cicchetti; and brothers, Frank and John Pellegrini.
Calling hours are 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday Dec. 27, 2013, at St. Rafael’s Church. Burial will follow at Naples Memorial Gardens.
