Frank Vitale, 87, of Englewood, Fla., died Friday, Dec. 20, 2013.
He was born Jan. 24, 1926, in New York, and came to this area in 1989 from Shirley, N.Y.
Frank worked for the Suffolk County Maintenance Department for the State of New York. He was a Lifetime member of the Brookhaven Fire Department in New York, and was a member of the VFW. Frank was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his two daughters, Vita Ruquet and Susan Anne Mattucci; sister, Angela Cester; three grandchildren, Frank Ruquet, Joanne Cutler and Joseph Vitale; nine great-grandchildren, Frank, Justin, Matthew, Anthony and Kimberly Ruquet, Elizabeth Cutler, Justin Powell, and David and Stephanie Garcia; and two great-great-grandchildren, Hailee and Thomas.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, in the Chapel of Peace at Gulf Pines Memorial Park in Englewood. Memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
