Robert Harold Laauwe, 84, of Placida, Fla., passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at Tidewell Hospice Englewood House.
He was born July 26, 1929, in Wyckoff, N.J., to Leonard and Lilly (nee Tribout) Laauwe.
Robert served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a pilot with over 140 missions. Mr. Laauwe retired as the President of INOPAK in Ringwood, N.J., in 1997 after 38 years of service. He moved to Florida 15 years ago from Franklin Lakes, N.J. Mr. Laauwe was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Englewood, Fla. Robert enjoyed working outside around the house, golfing, the beach and most importantly he loved his two little dogs, Lady and Molly.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy Laauwe; his children, Linda G. Laauwe (David) Clark of Pennsylvania, Missy S. Laauwe (Brian) McCauley of Rhode Island, Susan K. Laauwe of New Jersey, John M. (Bonnie) Laauwe of Rhode Island and William Randal (Juana) Laauwe of New Jersey; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert B. Laauwe in 2009 and Terence G. Laauwe in 2011.
Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to the time of service at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at the Calvary Baptist Church, 75 North Pine St., Englewood, FL 34223. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Sarasota, Fla., National V.A. Cemetery with Military Honors.
