Richard T. Hornyak, 77, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014.
He was born Feb. 24, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Eleanor and Julius Hornyak.
Richard served 22.5 years in the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Army, and later he worked for the Community College of Maryland for 16 years. He moved to Florida in 1992, and took up photography.
Richard is survived by his wife, Margaret; four children, Kathleen Lancaster of Baltimore, Md., Susan Bates of Englewood, Fla., Richard E. Hornyak of Sevierville, Tenn., and Vicki M. Nale of Englewood; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Sarah, Brittaney, Kelsey and Kyle; three great-grandchildren, Zackary, Michael and Andrew; and his brothers, Ron, Don, Stephen and John.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Lemon Bay Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at 2 p.m. at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Fla.
