Mellodye Ann O’Harrow, 58, of Rotonda West, Fla., went to be with our Creator and Sustainer peacefully Monday, April 14, 2014, after a hard-fought bout with COPD.
She was born Oct. 15, 1955, in Roaring Spring, Pa., to Martin L. and Gladys L. (nee Schoenfelt) Hoover.
Mellodye graduated from Claysburg-Kimmel High School in 1973, and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She worked in land sales development (Virginia; the Poconos, Pa.; and Blue Knob, Pa). Later she worked for CBS affiliate WTAJ-TV Altoona, Pa., in Marketing. Mellodye retired from there and created and operated Superstitches Craft business, starting in 1995. She was a member of Community Presbyterian Church of Englewood, Fla., and a former member of Ward Avenue Presbyterian Church of Altoona, where she served as a Deacon.
Mellodye was a lovely, sweet and talented lady. She was a very devoted wife and friend to Jim. She always had a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. Mellodye enjoyed crafting, sewing, painting, reading, fishing with Jim, acting, music and life in general. She will be sorely missed by her many friends who knew her as “Mel.”
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, James “Jim” Clark O’Harrow of Rotonda West; three beautiful stepchildren, Kelli Ann O’Harrow of Ventura, Calif., Jonathan Clark O’Harrow of Altoona, and Adam Philip (Kelley) O’Harrow of Grantsville, W.Va.; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and special in-laws, Chuck and Joanne Kahler, and John and Arla Hilovsky.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2014, at Community Presbyterian Church in Englewood, followed by a luncheon in Kastner Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Presbyterian Church, 405 S. McCall Road, Englewood, FL 34223. You may express your condolences to the family at www.lemonbayfh.com.
