Margaret Ruth Southard, 97, of Englewood, Fla., passed away from this Earth and into her heavenly home Wednesday, May 14, 2014, in Sarasota, Fla.

She was born Jan. 3, 1917, in Sarasota County, Fla., to Berry and Jenny Holland.

In addition to a full life of service to her family, she was the school cafeteria supervisor for many years at Venice High School in Venice, Fla. A resident of Englewood for about 46 years, Margaret was a faithful, active member of New Hope Baptist Church of Englewood. Her greatest joys were her Savior and her family.

Margaret is survived by her son, Carl (Paula) Weaver of Bartow, Ga.; daughter, Linda (Clyde) Holland of Englewood; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas of Lithia, Fla., and Sam Holland of Osprey, Fla.; two sisters, Julia DeGrow of Bartow, and Shirley Gill of Fort Lonesome, Fla.; and many other beloved relatives. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Hollis Weaver and John Southard; son, Sheldon Weaver; grandson, Carl Weaver Jr.; and two brothers, Gilbert and Fred Holland.

The viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the funeral services at 11 a.m. today, Saturday, May 17, 2014, at New Hope Baptist Church, 2100 Englewood Road, Englewood, FL 34223. A graveside service and interment will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church, 10232 State Road 674, Wimauma, FL 33547. Dinner will be provided after each service today and Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New Hope Baptist Church, in Margaret Southard’s memory.

Arrangements are by Lemon Bay Funeral Home.
