Mildred Harrington Haskins

Mildred “Millie” Harrington Haskins, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014.

She was born Feb. 19, 1923, to Florence and Clyde Harrington, Kansas City, Mo.

Millie married Burton E. Haskins Jr., in Kansas City, May 1, 1943, and had three children. After her husband’s death in 1998, she moved to Englewood, Fla. There she was active in various clubs, volunteer work, and a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Millie was happiest walking the beach, swimming in her pool, shelling and making shell crafts and visiting with many close friends. Her children were her greatest treasure.

Millie was beloved by all who knew her. Her winning smile and joyful, optimistic spirit will be deeply missed, especially by her children.

Millie is survived by her sister, Margaret Johnson of Minnesota; sister-in-law, Clara Louise Reed of Kansas; her children, Burton E. (Kathryn) Haskins III, of Denver, Linda K. Haskins of Lawrence, Kan., and Phillip J. Haskins (Valerie Murray) of Webster Groves, Mo.; three grandchildren, Kate Duncan, Michael and Jack Haskins; two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Teague Duncan; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Ayers; and her husband.
