William “Bill” Breadheft, 75, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Tidewell Hospice.
He was born Oct. 8, 1938, in Indiana, to Abe and Dot.
Bill grew up in Manchester, Conn., where he fell in love with photography. His hobby became his profession, working at the University of Connecticut for 26 years, in charge of the Photographic Services Department. Additionally, he served as an EMT and a volunteer fireman in his hometown of Andover, Conn., for 35 years, before retiring to Florida. During this time, he was also an EMT instructor. Bill’s photography, EMT service and fire department involvement he enjoyed immensely, and found fulfilling and gratifying. He is well-remembered for his big heart and huge grin.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 50 years, Nancy; three children, Lauren (Ed) Cooney, Marc (Andrea) Breadheft and Tamme Arasimowicz; five grandchildren, Alexandra (Mason) Propst, Sydney and Jared Cooney, and Naideen and Natalie Breadheft; and niece, Carla Witmer. Bill also leaves behind many friends in Connecticut, Florida and in between.
A Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Englewood Community Funeral Home, with Private Crematory, 3070 S. McCall Road, Englewood. Memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238; the Andover Volunteer Fire Department, 11 School Road, Andover, CT 06232; or the Englewood Firefighters Benevolent Fund, 516 Paul Morris Drive, Englewood, FL 34223, in memory of Bill Breadheft.
