George Arthur Albrecht, 83, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Monday, June 16, 2014.
He was born Aug. 10, 1930, in Sayville, Long Island, N.Y.
George served in the U.S. Navy for five years as an underwater welder. He then worked as a Building Contractor. George moved to Englewood in 1968, and had a hand in building many of the homes and businesses in the Englewood area. He retired in 1991, and enjoyed spending part of his time in Cleveland, Ga. George enjoyed sports, working with model trains, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, with whom he just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary, Janet; his son, Richard (Debi) Albrecht; his daughters, Sheryl (Bill) Strall and Susan (Ron) Franklin; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild, all of Englewood; and his sister, Doris (John) Ludlow of Citrus Springs, Fla. George was preceded in death by his mother and father; and three brothers.
