Richard A. Hartman Sr., 87, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014.

He was born Oct. 24, 1926, in Baltimore, Md., and moved to this area in 1981 from Joppa, Md.

Before his retirement, Richard worked as a Mechanical Engineer at the Edgewood Arsenal with the U.S. Government. He was a World War II Veteran, serving with the Merchant Marine. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, playing golf and boating. He was an avid Corvette enthusiast, and owned many Corvettes over the years. Mr. Hartman was a member of the Englewood Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Theresa Hartman of Englewood; children, Carolyn (Kevin Reddington) Hartman of New Milford, Conn., Richard Hartman of Joppa, and Robert (Heather) Hartman of Bel Air, Md.; stepchildren, Peter (Dayna) Jung of Lake Worth, Fla., Angelique (Wade) Waltimyer of North Port, Fla., and Steven Jung of South Gulf Cove, Fla.; five grandchildren; and a sister, Floss Cromwell of Baltimore.
