Beverly Jean Ray, 83, of Valrico, Fla., and formerly of Englewood, Fla., died Thursday, June 12, 2014.
She was born April 15, 1931, in Danville, Ill.
Beverly lived a life of service to God, her family and her church, in the role of a pastor’s wife for over 50 years, most recently at Englewood Church of the Nazarene. Her responsibilities were many, but she joyfully served and was always faithful to her church family. Beverly sang, played the piano and organ, and led many Sunday school classes. The full extent of her work will never fully be known, but she touched the lives of many through her years of ministry, and her love for others was her biggest gift.
Beverly is survived by her husband to whom she was married for 63 years, the Rev. Paul Ray; sons, Erik (Lynda) Ray of Tampa, Fla., and Timothy Ray of Englewood; grandson, Dylan (Tenema) Ray of Valrico; and her two great-grandchildren, Ja’Quon and Kalisha. Beverly Ray was preceded in death by her infant son, Jeffrey Brian.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Brandon First Church of the Nazarene, 114 Kingsway Road, Brandon, Fla.
Arrangements are by Swilley Funeral Home, Tampa.
