Alys Katherine “Aly” Arnall, 62, died Wednesday, June 25, 2014.
Aly, as she was fondly known, was born May 9, 1952, in Venice, Fla., to parents Bob and Barbara Arnall.
She was the eldest daughter of five children, and grew up in Englewood, Fla. As a child and a young woman, Aly developed her love for music and the out-of-doors. In high school, Alys was selected to the all-state band, and earned the Curved Bar Award, the Girl Scouts’ highest honor. She graduated from Venice High School in 1971.
Aly lived in many wonderful places, and had many interesting jobs during her life; eventually returning to her roots in Englewood. She was known for her love of animals, her generosity toward others, and living by the “Golden Rule.” Aly was a breast cancer survivor of more than 20 years. Her unexpected and tragic death leaves us all saddened. I would venture to say, Aly would want her friends and family to turn to one another for comfort. She would also want you to make a difference for the better in someone’s life, as she did for so many.
Alys leaves behind her brother, Bob (Brenda); sisters, Joyce, Marilyn (Jae) and Jane; along with her nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
A gathering of friends will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Kelly’s Tavern in Englewood. A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014. Details are still being confirmed, and will be communicated soon. You may express your condolences to the family at www.lemonbayfh.com.
“All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.” We love you, my beautiful sister.
