John David Grimshaw

John David Grimshaw, 76, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Venice Regional Bayfront Health in Venice, Fla., of heart disease.

He was born Aug. 23, 1937, in Detroit, Mich., and had been a resident of the Englewood area for 22 years, coming from The Colony, Texas.

John was a Realtor, most recently for Michael Saunders in Englewood, and was well-known and -liked for his happy participation in celebrations and social gatherings in town. John was a big Chamber of Commerce supporter, always smiling and laughing, with a great sense of humor. He loved sunsets at the beach, and was an auto-racing enthusiast. John served in the U.S. Marines, and was a member of the Rotary Club of Placida, Fla.

He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Margo Grimshaw of Englewood; son, John Grimshaw Jr. of Howell, Mich.; sister, Judith Samsel of Nogales, Ariz.; brother, Gerald Grimshaw of Mead, Colo.; and two granddaughters, Elliyana and Adriana Grimshaw.

Services will be private. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 21475, St. Petersburg, FL 33742, in memory of John Grimshaw. You may share a memory with the family at www.englewoodfh.com.

Arrangements are by Englewood Community Funeral Home with Private Crematory.
