Edwin Hazen Quint, 83, of Rotonda West, Fla., passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte, Fla.
He was born May 19, 1931, in Detroit, Mich., to Nicholas and Marjorie (nee Martin) Quint.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Edwin moved to Florida in 1971 from West Bloomfield, Mich. He was a builder and a contractor in Charlotte County, Fla., from 1973 to 1988, where he became Building Inspector for 21 years, retiring as a Senior Building Inspector. By county proclamation, Jan. 6, 2009, was declared “Edwin Quint Day.”
He will be greatly missed and forever loved by his wife of 63 years, Beverly; their children, Susan (Scott) Brown of Atlanta, Ga., Karen (Thomas) Quint-Kalvin of Naples, Fla., and Robert (Kathleen) Quint of Atlanta; and six grandchildren, Justin Kalvin, Benjamin Kalvin, Samantha Brown, Dylan Kalvin, Morgan Brown and Garrison Kalvin.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service time at 11 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2014, at Englewood Community Funeral Home Inc., 3070 S. McCall Road, Englewood, Fla. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will follow at 1 p.m. at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Fla.
