Alfred Lage, 90, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014.
He was born March 18, 1924, in New Bedford, Mass., and moved to this area in 1983.
Mr. Lage was a longtime resident of Colonia, N.J. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and saw action in Africa, Italy, France and Germany. He was employed by the Phelps Dodge Copper Company.
Mr. Lage is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ermelinda Esteves Lage; daughter, A. Doreen (William) Verba; grandchildren, Amanda B. Verba and Daniel M. Celko; great-grandchild, Aubryn M. Neubert; sisters, Angelia Santos, Leah (Ernest) Forgione, Alda Mack and Lillian (Angelo) Palmiere; brother, David (Rosanne) Lage; 10 nieces and nephews; 15 grandnieces and grandnephews; and 10 great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda M. Celko.
Arrangements are by National Cremation Society of Port Charlotte, Fla.
