Janice Willis Wilkinson

Janice Willis Wilkinson, of Englewood, Fla., formerly of Elmira, N.Y., went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014.

She was born Feb. 26, 1926, in Sayre, Pa., to Harry and Helena Willis.

Janice graduated from Sayre High School in 1944 and attended Gordon College in Boston, Mass. In 1986, she retired from Elmira Quality Printers and she and Art moved to Englewood.

Janice dearly loved her three children, their spouses, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She had a blessed and wonderful life and was always a willing servant for the Lord.

Janice was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church in Elmira, and was active in Sunday school, Bible Study, and numerous committees. Upon moving to Florida, she became an active member of Englewood United Methodist Church and served in various ministries within the church. She was a past member of Eastern Star. Over the years in her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, reading, painting, shell collecting and gardening. Janice was a good friend to many and cherished her friendships made along her journey in life.

Janice is survived by her sons, Rev. Jeffrey (Jo Ann) of Elmira, and Stephen (Lucille) of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; daughter, Karen (James) Desrochers of London, England; five grandchildren, Jonathan (Cassandra) Wilkinson of Scotia, N.Y., Jeremy (Joanna) Wilkinson of Elmira, Jennifer (Nelson) Greening of Cincinnati, Ohio, Laura Desrochers (Samuel Koehl) of Sugar Land, Texas, and Kristen Desrochers of Dallas, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Andrew Wilkinson, Cecelia Wilkinson, Joel Greening and Charles Wilkinson; and sister-in-law, Patricia Willis. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Arthur F. Wilkinson; and her brother, Charles Willis.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at Lemon Bay Funeral Home in Englewood with the service following at 11 a.m. The burial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, Fla. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Englewood United Methodist Church, 700 East Dearborn St., Englewood, FL 34223.

Arrangements are by Lemon Bay Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
