ENGLEWOOD — The Lemon Bay girls JV basketball team kept close but just couldn’t get the spark needed to catch up with the visiting Venice Indians on Jan. 11. The Mantas seemed to always be just a step behind. They played close in each of the quarters but lost 58-46.

The 12-point loss was much better than the 24-point loss (55-31) that the Lady Mantas suffered at Venice on Dec. 20.
