PORT CHARLOTTE — The Jan. 28 junior varsity basketball game with the Port Charlotte Pirates hosting the Lemon Bay Mantas ended up pretty much as expected. Both teams got balanced scoring out of their players and both teams went deep into their bench for playing time.
The Pirates, with their 12-4 record, went ahead 6-0 before Victor Mellor took the goose egg off the board for the Mantas. Ball control and passing issues for the Mantas helped give the Pirates a 16-4 first period lead.
