Marietta works to get back on top
PORT CHARLOTTE — Marietta College is hoping to use its stint in Port Charlotte as a jump-off point for another run at a national championship.
The Pioneers, who have won more Division III championships than any other program, are competing in the Snowbird Baseball Classic for the fourth straight year. The first two seasons that started with trips to Port Charlotte ended with the Pioneers’ fifth and sixth national championships. Last season, however, ended with a conference championship and a trip to the regional final, which would be called a success for many teams, but not for Marietta.
