Colome solid as Crabs edged

PORT CHARLOTTE — Alex Colome made his most impressive start of the spring, but the Charlotte Stone Crabs offense stalled and dropped a game to the last-place Clearwater Threshers on Friday night.

Colome, who is serving a 50-game major league suspension for a positive steroid test, pitched five scoreless innings in Charlotte’s 2-1 loss, allowing four hits and striking out five. He threw 70 pitches, 42 for strikes.
