PORT CHARLOTTE — Julian Ridings is accustomed to having to fight for a spot on the team.

He did it when he walked on at Western Carolina University three years ago, and he’s done it again with the Charlotte Stone Crabs this season. When Ridings joined the team on May 31, he was supposed to be a temporary fourth outfielder, someone to fill a roster spot until Andrew Toles returned from his absence.
