Medicare open enrollment extended for Florida residents

Attention all those on Medicare. The annual open enrollment period, which begins Oct. 15 and traditionally runs through to Dec. 7, has been extended to the end of the year for residents in Florida and other states affected by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. That’s no reason to put off examining your plan and considering changes.

Although you can sign up for Medicare anytime during a seven-month period surrounding your 65th birthday, this the only time of the year when you can modify your existing plan.
