Bowlegs booms

A Union sharpshooter takes aim at his Confederate opposition Saturday as part of the Battle of Bowlegs Creek Heritage Festival staged this past weekend at the Fort Meade Outdoor Recreation Area. The battle re-enactments on both Saturday and Sunday drew hundreds of spectators. More photo coverage on pages 12 and 13.

Re-enactor coordinator David Hackel addresses the Union and Confederate troops as part of the opening ceremony Saturday afternoon. Abouit 150 re-enactors were at the park for the weekend, most of which also took part in battle re-enactments both Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
