In response to the “Letter to the Editor” Wednesday, December 11, 2013, I would like to say to the writer that, yes, you do have the right to say, “Happy Festivus” (even if the word is not in any dictionary I’ve found). You have the right and freedom of speech to do that by the service and often the sacrifice of life given by our fellow citizens of this country. But please recognize my right to celebrate the birth of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave His life so all men could be blessed by His birth.
I do regret that you are offended by our joy and celebration of Jesus’ birth. It also strikes me that it might be a little offensive to you that God sent Him here to give His life to those of us who choose to accept Him as our “Lord and Savior” would wish you a “Merry Christmas,” even though He is the true “Reason for the Season.” I do truly pray that you can believe and accept that one day.
