Robert E. “Bob” Pittenger, 87, passed away Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at home of kidney failure.

Born Dec. 22, 1925, in Selma, Ind., Mr. Pittenger was a resident of Bartow since 1957.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

He was a supervisor for Agrico Chemicals of Bartow for many years. He attended the Bartow First United Methodist Church and the Golden Age Club. Mr. Pittenger is survived by his wife of 69 years, Shirley Pittenger; two daughters, Linda Rahmatian and husband, Dr. Rahmatian of Sari, Iran; and Jan Essary and husband Patrick of Lakeland, four grandchildren, Ben Southard, Deanna Pavlou, Chris Milligan and Scott Southard and nine great-grandchildren, John, Caleb, Camden, Hunter, Tristen, Jake, Andrew, Sydney and Luke.

Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow.

Funeral service is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at the funeral home.

Interment is at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell at a later date.
