Wanda Austin Wilson, age 57, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville from complications due to cancer.
She was born March 19, 1956, in Hollywood, Fla., but was reared in Bartow, Fla.. In 1979, Wanda married the love of her life, Ralph Thomas Wilson, and they moved to Tallahassee, Fla. They later moved to Jacksonville in 1990.
She was a Senior Application Development Analyst for Lender Processing Services for 21 years. She served very diligently at Mt. Bethel MB Church in many leadership roles. She was an honor graduate of Bartow High School, class of 1974, and later went on to graduate with a BS degree in Political Science from Texas Southern University in 1978, where she was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 34 years, Deacon Ralph T. Wilson; daughter, Dr. Quiana S. Wilson, parents, Rev. and Mrs. Robert and Josephine Austin of Bartow, Fla.; brothers, Min. James P. Austin (Nancy) of Bartow, Fla., and Min. Marlon R. Austin (Angie) of Lakeland, Fla.; sisters, Pamela A. Burgess (Louis) of Lakeland, Fla., and Patricia Lloyd of Lake Wales, Fla.; god brother, Captain Chauncey Henry of Frederick, Md.; mother-in-law, Mrs. Frances Wilson, Lakeland, Fla.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other relatives, church family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, at Mt. Bethel MB Church, 1620 Helena St., Jacksonville.
A Celebration of Life is 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 14, at the church, Pastor R.E. Herring Sr., Officiant. Interment is 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 16, in the Wildwood Cemetery of Bartow, Fla.
