Samuel T. “S.T.” Glisson, 88, passed away Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at his residence of cancer.
Born July 21, 1926, in Seminole County, Ga., Mr. Glisson was a resident of Bartow since 1954, moving from Donalsonville, Ga.
He was a heavy equipment operator for Armour & U.S. Steel Phosphate for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving with the 82nd Airborne Division as a parachute instructor and radio operator. He was a member of the Bartow First Baptist Church and the Bartow American Legion Post 3.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Edith Glisson.
Mr. Glisson is survived by his wife, Ethleen G. Glisson, Bartow; daughters, Myra Glisson, Bartow and Lisa Olinger (Norris), Auburndale; stepson, Richard J. Sanchez (Phyllis), Lakeland; stepdaughter, Jackie McCoy (Gary) Royal Palm Beach, Fla.; sister, Jean Moore, Jacksonville; brother, Thomas J. Glisson, Bainbridge, Ga.; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow.
Funeral serviceis 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at the funeral home.
Interment will be held at Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow.
