Bernard ‘Bernie’ L. Howell

Bernard “Bernie” L. Howell, 74, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in Gainesville, Fla., of respiratory failure.

Born April 30, 1939, in Indianapolis, Ind., Mr. Howell was a resident of La Crosse, Fla., for several years but lived in Bartow for most of his life.

Bernie graduated from Summerlin Institute in 1958.

He as a draftsman and worked for the Department of Transportation, on the Alyeska Pipeline in Anchorage, Alaska, Jacobs Engineering and his own consulting firm. Later in life, he owned the Spee-Dee CB Radio shop in Bartow.

Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the graveside in Bartow Wildwood Cemetery. Condolences to the family may be made at www.whidden
