Miners give U.S. 98 rivals the boot

Jaimes had an assist in the game, as did Dylan Linares and Diego Maldenado. It was the Miners' second game of the season, and followed a 2-2 tie in the opener against Lake Gibson. The Miners are scheduled to play at All Saints Academy tomorrow.

The Miners took a 4-1 decision, thanks in large part to the offensive efforts of Linares who scored Fort Meade's first three goals of the game. Dru Lott added the fourth Miner marker.

Several players in a recent boy's varsity soccer game between Fort Meade and Frostproof were in the middle of trying to make a heads up play, including Frostproof's Baltazer Mejia (7) and Ricky Aguilar, who are sandwiching Miner Manuel Hernandez. Fort Meade won, 4-1. Caleb Frazier had a strong effort in goal for the Miners, credited with eight saves on the night.

Frostproof and Fort Meade also tangled in a junior varsity contest, and the Bulldogs got the better in this one, by just a 2-1 score. Here, Fort Meade's Jesus Cardoso looks to go for the ball against Frostproof's Jesus Montenegro.
