There is Super Bowl Sunday, and then there is Super Bowl Funday — the game-watching party being thrown at Eagle Ridge Mall.
The food court will be the place of action, as the Super Bowl can be watched on the mall’s large projector screen, while enjoying free popcorn, chips, salsa, and Chili’s game day grub, notes Eagle Ridge Mall media coordinator, Theresa M. Dorlan.
The free grub will be available while supplies last, and the mall will also be giving away free minifootballs.
Mall officials say that absolutely no alcohol will be allowed on the premises.
There are activities for family members who might not want to watch the game.
Regal Cinemas will be open for movies and close at 8:30 p.m.
Mall merchants will close at their usual 6 p.m. Sunday.
Additionally, the Fun Zone bowling and kids arcade area will be open until 11 p.m.
Dorlan says this is the first time the mall has held such an event and adds they hope to make it an annual one.
The event takes place from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, when the Seattle Seahawks face the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII.
“We’re very excited to be hosting our after-hours Super Bowl Funday to give the community a family-friendly place to watch the game on our big screen and enjoy free snacks and fun,” notes Ed Bean, Eagle Ridge Mall manager, who adds, “We’re hoping for a great turn-out so that we can make this a yearly tradition.”
Eagle Ridge Mall is located on U.S. 27 in Lake Wales.
