Kerry Wood (56) and Travis Lawton (54) go up to try and block a pass by Melbourne Central Catholic quarterback Brandon Ziarno.

Kijana Gaines and Jarviel Hart converge on this MCC player in first half action Friday night in Melbourne. The high flying Hustlers were held to just seven points in the first two quarters by a strong Bulldog defensive effort.

The Frostproof Bulldogs gave a valiant effort Friday night, and took the second ranked team in the state, Melbourne Central Catholic, to five overtimes in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs.

But MCC had just enough, stopping a Frostproof two-point conversion try to win, 38-37. It is the third straight year the Bulldogs dropped their opening round playoff game.
