Brad Ruhmann and Marybeth Soderstrom were selected by the Dick Pope/Polk County Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association to co-chair the 2014 Carillon Classic 5K Run & Walk.
The Carillon Classic 5K is a charitable event sponsored by the FPRA chapter in partnership with Bok Tower Gardens, Youth and Family Alternatives, Inc. and corporate sponsors to raise funds for the George W. Harris, Jr. Runaway and Youth Crisis Shelter in Bartow and FPRA educational and professional development initiatives. Now in its third year, the event will be staged at Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales. Its first meeting is Dec. 12 at United Way of Central Florida.
Soderstrom, Community Outreach coordinator of Polk Works in Bartow, is also vice president of the local FPRA chapter. Ruhmann, a PIO/Communications Specialist with Polk County Fire Rescue, is a non-voting member of the chapter’s board of directors.
Named in honor of Cypress Gardens’ founder Dick Pope, Sr., the Dick Pope/Polk County chapter is one of 15 professional chapters of Sarasota-based FPRA, the nation’s oldest public relations organization. FPRA provides professional development, networking and recognition opportunities for more than 1,300 members throughout the Sunshine State.
