It truly puzzles me that Department of Children and Families expect a low income family to go online to apply for assistance.
Unemployment is another mystery. Being unemployed, the only way to apply and report your weeks is online.
Really? Being unemployed you can afford Internet?
My local bank wants me to do my banking online because I call there to check my balance.
Internet and cable are truly luxuries for low income households.
The costs of these services are at best no less than $140 monthly. And rising!
I am a senior citizen with an income of $948 a month. After paying basic living expenses I am left with about $150 a month for food, soaps, paper products and gas for my car. Plus any required maintenance on my car.
I am, of course, grateful for the $41 monthly for food stamps.
About mid-month I am eating very poorly and have no money for gas for my car.
Our government needs to acquire common sense when it comes to services such as Department of Children and Families and unemployment.
