The fifth annual Meals on Wheels Kentucky Derby Party will be held Saturday, May 5 beginning at 4 p.m. and ending at 7 p.m. at Sebring Hills Community Center, 200 Lark Avenue. Tickets are available through any Board member, through the Meals On Wheels office at the Church of Brethren, or by mail. Tickets are $30 per person.
This year tickets may also be purchased over the phone using a credit card. These tickets will be held at Will Call at the door the day of the event.
All proceeds for this event will help Sebring Meals On Wheels continue with the mission of delivering hot lunches to the home bound and elderly individuals in the Sebring and Lake Placid communities.
The party includes televised viewing of the Kentucky Derby events on large screen television, food and beverages. There will be door prizes and a silent auction, a men’s Derby Hat contest and a Ladies Derby Hat contest. The Derby Hat contests have three categories: Most like the Kentucky Derby, Best representation of Meals On Wheels and Prettiest or Most Dapper. These same categories are used to judge the jockey silks (attire worn by the riders of the Derby horses).
The community has stepped forward for the silent auction, with many great items from local businesses.
