Jessie Sanders, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sanders, has been chosen Student of the Month for Lake Placid High School. She will be recognized today (Wednesday) at a luncheon meeting of the Greater Lake Placid Chamber of Commerce.
Jessie was nominated for the honor by the Mathematics Department at LPHS.
Chamber executive director Eileen May described Jessie as “a truly remarkable young lady” who has taken numerous honors courses, making an “A” in every class and earning an overall 5.56 grade point average.
The Student of the Month is a current and active member of both the LPHS National Honor Society and Student Government Association “and exhibits a positive attitude which makes her a true leader in the classroom as well as a model student,” May said.
Jessie is an accomplished violinist and has been a member of the LPHS orchestra during her entire high school career. In her spare time Jessie serves in the children’s ministry at her church and works a part-time job at a local grocery store.
“We have no doubts that Jessie is well on her way to a successful future in her college and adult life and wish her the best in all her endeavors,” May said.
Jessie was expected to be accompanied by her parents and LPHS principal Toni Stivender at the luncheon meeting.
