Women of the Word will meet Saturday at Working Faith Ministries in Lake Placid with minister Darlene Underwood as the special guest. The meeting will convene at 10 a.m. at 424 County Road 29.
Underwood “encourages and exhorts the body of Christ through practical understanding and application of God’s word,” said spokesman Geneva Andrews. “She brings forth the Word of God with straightforward in love, by building upon its principles with the compassion of Christ.”
In 2008 Underwood had a near-death experience while undergoing open heart surgery. She said she found herself in a new and exciting realm. “At that time the Lord spoke a message to her and she vowed to Him to share these things with others to uplift and encourage them,” Andrews said.
Underwood is the mother of three and grandmother of seven. Currently ordained with Melody of Life Ministry out of Chattanooga, Tenn., she makes her home in Ooltewah, Tenn. with her husband, Joe.
Men are welcome to attend WOW meetings, too. For more information contact Andrews at 863-599-0019 or Brenda Sutton at 863-840-2112.
The nondenominational Working Faith Ministries is located at 424 County Road 29, Lake Placid.
Andrews said the mission of WOW is to unite women to become Women over the World through monthly meetings to worship the Lord, minister to one another, share common goals, put in motion and carry out a plan of purpose to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a most tangible way by meeting the needs of the hurting, and thereby, touching the world with the Gospel of Jesus.
