STR8 UP Youth Ministry has picked up its first grant after obtaining 501(c)(3) non-profit status from the IRS. The first grant is for $2,000 and comes from Glades Cooperative Trust Fund. The notice was accepted to help fund the cost of adding an academic/learning center.
The earmarked funds came a week after a presentation was made to the Glades Cooperative Trust by STR8 UP president Sammy Telesco and his wife and vice president Dana Telesco, along with contractor Paul Wong, who serves on the board of STR8 UP.
“The current open-floor plan allows for too many distractions for optimum studying for the students and tutors,” Sammy Telesco said. “We believe that with the new addition, the youth will be able to focus better on their schoolwork.”
The address of the youth house is 113 S. Main St., Lake Placid.
Anyone who wants to donate to the ministry can do so by mail at P.O. Box 654, Lake Placid FL 33862 or by PayPal on the website,www.str8up.org.
