The spirit of the Christmas season was evident Thursday evening when members of the Greater Lake Placid Chamber of Commerce gathered for a holiday mixer in the dining room at Southern Lifestyle assisted living facility.
The room was decked out for the holidays with a large Christmas tree, garland and decorative snowflakes draped from the ceiling, and tablecloths that carried the Christmas theme. Many of the guests dressed in holiday attire, too.
The holiday party was sponsored by Coz’s Sports Bar & Bowl, Southern Lifestyle ALF, and Superior Cleaning Co., all of Lake Placid.
“This is a very nice event,” said first time guest Susie Lee, representing the Lake Placid Ballroom Dancers group. “Everyone seems so happy and cheerful, and the food is just terrific.” Her husband, Larry, agreed. “It’s very festive. This would put anyone in the holiday spirit.”
Culinary skills were highlighted in an array of heavy hors d’oeuvres ranging from large peeled shrimp to cocktail franks to crackers and cheese. A dessert table featured cakes and cheesecakes. Beverages included wines, beer and water.
Chamber executive director Eileen May said she was pleased with the turnout for the holiday mixer. “Our sponsors came together for another great evening,” she said. “The food is wonderful, the venue is just great and everyone is having a good time. This is a great evening for the Chamber of Commerce and our guests.”
