Lieutenant Mark Schneider of the Lake Placid Police Department has completed an intensive 40-hour Motorcycle Crash Investigation course at the Florida Public Safety Institute in Havana, Fla.

The course is designed for experienced traffic crash investigators. Lt Schneider has completed a number of traffic crash courses, qualifying him to become an expert in traffic crash investigations.

During the Motorcycle Crash Investigation course, Lt. Schneider and other students participated in practical exercises and staged crash situations to give them “hands-on” experience with skids, accelerations, deceleration, and the unique characteristics of single- tracked vehicles.

LPPD Chief James Fansler said tuition for the course was provided through a grant, which covered class costs, housing, and meals.
