Lake Placid American Legion Post 25 will host its second annual Bike Fest this coming Saturday and Sunday. The public is invited to attend to see the more than 200 motorcycles expected to be on display.

Saturday’s festivities will include a bike show with registration beginning at 11 a.m. and entertainment by the Redneck Joe Band from noon until 10 p.m. Biker games will be featured on Saturday with activities like slow roll, softball drop and burnouts. Sunday’s entertainment will be the Commotion band from 1 to 5 p.m.

There will be a variety of vendors providing food both days, including STR8 UP Youth Ministries and the Lake Placid Noon Rotary Club. The Legion will also grill burgers to sell at the event.

There is no entry fee and the American Legion will be open to the public on Saturday, Sunday and Monday to offer non-members a chance to learn about the organization and its programs.

Proceeds from the event will support homeless veterans in Highlands County and other veterans’ assistance programs in the area.

The Women’s Ministries of First Presbyterian Church in Lake Placid will host a Variety Show at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24 in the church Fellowship Hall at 117 Oak St.

There will be a variety of entertainers, piano, guitar, dance, solos, trios, clowns and more. Those in attendance will be served refreshments at intermission.

There is no charge, only a free will offering to support the many ministries of the women of the church.
