The Placid Lakes Home Owners Association’s annual rummage sale will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Town Hall on Placid Lakes Boulevard. This will be a “humdinger” with lots of gently used merchandise. The folks in Placid Lakes have donated tons of good “stuff.” You won’t walk away from this one empty-handed.
Carol Kelly, an RN from Home Health Services, was the speaker at last month’s meeting of the Placid Lakes Social Circle. The topic was the possibility of free services at Placid Lakes Town Hall. The tentative plan is to have this service once each month of a Thursday morning. Call Bonnie at 863-465-4888 for scheduling.
It’s time for the Pioneers of Placid Lakes to get organized! We have made arrangements with the Placid Lakes Country Club to start the ball rolling on Thursday, March 13 at 11:30 a.m. But there’s one important issue that must be taken care of by you, and that is to call Town Hall and RSVP with Bonnie and be counted. We must have a head count for the restaurant. We have rounded up an old menu from way back, an original advertising circular that August Tobler circulated in the 70’s, pictures of the Catfish Bridge being built, lots of great snapshots of good times past at Tobler Park, original shots of the shopping center being built, etc. That’s just a start, you can make the rest happen, guess we’re ready, so let’s go!
The Dalton Gang will be meeting the same day as the Pioneers. The same goes for Placid Lakes Social Circle. When Joyce calls and leaves you a message, please RSVP at 863-699-6331 and let her know if you will be attending the dinner/meeting. We’re going to “nail” some day-trips, and we need your help to do that.
Phil and Dee Grayber, volunteers at Southern Lifestyle, helped host a Valentine Party on the 12th at that facility. On hand were some of the local Lake Placid Ballroom Dancers who enjoyed dancing and watching the crowning of the King and Queen of Hearts for 2014.
It’s that time of year, this is when we really get homesick, the robins are coming through, and that means they will be making their way up North. Think they better check the weather a little better, this is not the time to make those plans. Not this week, anyway.
