Thomas Leland Weldon, 65, of Lake Placid, Fla., died Thursday morning, Aug. 22, 2013, at his residence,
surrounded by his family.

Born Oct. 26, 1947, in Schenectady, N.Y., to Leona and Hugh Weldon, he moved to Highlands County 25 years ago from New York and had been a resident of Lake Placid for the past nine years. A retired laborer, Mr. Weldon enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Placid Lakes.

Mr. Weldon is survived by his wife, Candace; daughter Tammy; sons Tommy and Todd; stepsons, William and Andrew; one grandson; seven step-grandchildren; sisters Barbara Knittel, Nancy Fendley and Sharon Reese; and several nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Mr. Weldon’s life was Monday at First Baptist Church of Placid Lakes with Rev. Jeff Taylor officiating.

The family suggests donations in Mr. Weldon’s memory to The Gideons Bible Foundation, Lake Placid Camp of Gideons, P.O. Box 1195, Lake Placid, FL 33862-1195.

Cremation arrangements were entrusted with Scott Funeral Home, Lake Placid.
