William P. Plajer

William P. Plajer, 94, of Lake Placid, Fla., passed away Tuesday evening, August 27, 2013, surrounded by his family.

Born Sept. 16, 1918, in Alliance, Ohio to Anna and Peter Plajer, he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Plajer and his wife moved from Alliance, Ohio to Ft. Lauderdale in 1968 and had been residents of Lake Placid for over 20 years. He was a carpenter and worked as a construction superintendant both in Ohio and Florida. He was a member of the American Legion, Saxon Club and a life member of the Elks Lodge 467 in Alliance, Ohio.

Mr. Plajer is survived by his wife of 70 years, Kathryn (Shultz); a daughter, Nancy Duskey (Thomas) of Tucson, Ariz.; and a brother, Robert Plajer of Alliance. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Helen Hoppes.

A memorial service to celebrate Mr. Plajer’s life will be held this fall at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Alliance where he was a lifelong member. Inurnment will follow at the Alliance City Cemetery.

Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Scott Funeral Home, Lake Placid.
