Mildred C. Verbarg, 90, of Lake Placid, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013.

Born Feb. 9, 1923,in Rockdale, Pa., to Catherine and John Lank, she was a homemaker most of her life. However she briefly held various management jobs at a dry cleaners, condominium complex and the college bookstore on the campus of St. Joseph University, Philadelphia.

Through her first husband’s career with the government, Mrs. Verbarg traveled the world, living in the United States, Spain and American Samoa. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Lake Placid Moose Lodge and American Legion.

Mrs. Verbarg is survived by her husband Bob, who she wed April 22, 1995, in Avon Park; children Carolyn Joyce (Heck) Smith, William John Heck Jr., Mary Jo (Verbarg) Eppink; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Marie (Verbarg) O’Neal, and first husband, William John Heck Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church. Father Michael Cannon will celebrate. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. James Catholic Church, 3380 Placid View Dr., Lake Placid, FL 33852.

Funeral arrangements are under the devotion of Michael A. Brochetti Funeral Home, Lake Placid.
