Edward John Ramirez-Cruz, 57, of Lake Placid, Fla., died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at his residence.

Born Dec. 5, 1955, in Guanica, Puerto Rico, to Ana and Raul Ramirez, he was raised in Waterbury, Conn., where he graduated from Crosby High School. Mr. Ramirez-Cruz served in the U.S. Army. He moved to Lake Placid two and a half years ago from Homestead where he retired from Bellsouth/ATT after 33 years as a frame attendant. Ramirez-Cruz was a member of the CWA, Telephone Pioneers, Moose Lodge and he was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed high performance Mustangs, working at his computer, and spending time with his family and friends.

Mr. Ramirez-Cruz is survived by his wife Amy; daughter, Ashley; son John and grandson Kal; mother, Ana Fernandez; a brother, Harold Ramirez; sister Maggie Ramirez; mother-in-law Julie Thompson, father-in-law Sonny Alansky (Shirley); sister-in-law Laura King; and nephews, nieces and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Raul, and a brother, Allen Ramirez.

Services to celebrate Mr. Ramirez-Cruz’s life will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements were entrusted with Scott Funeral Home, Lake Placid.
