Walter J. Miller

Walter J. Miller, 85, of Lake Placid, Fla., died Tuesday morning, Oct. 8, 2013, at Lake Placid Health Care Center.

Born Sept. 7, 1928, to Florence and J. Lawrence Miller of Racine, Wisc., he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1950 through 1952, achieving a rank of Sgt. 1st Class. He was a civil engineer for over 30 years with Hurst & Rosche. Mr. Miller had been a Lake Placid resident for the past 25 years, coming from Hillsboro, Ill. He was a Lutheran by faith and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was a certified pilot.

Mr. Miller is survived by his wife June; daughters Mary Miller (Reginald Nunn) and Dawn Szatkowsky (Mike); a sister, Marie Baird; and grandchildren, Matthew, Tim, John and April.

Arrangements are under the devotion of Michael A. Brochetti Funeral Home, Lake Placid.
